A big part of Food Photography is what happens after baking/cooking, setting up a nice environment and shooting the best picture possible: I am talking about editing.

I am not a professional in this field, but that is not necessary when you have a good, reliable and easy program on your computer.

Working with Zoner Photo Studio X

Zoner Photo Studio X is a Windows software for editing, layering, retouching and cataloging your pictures. It gives you access to presets and a video editor tool. Not finished yet! Zoner Photo Studio X can handle your entire workflow: from importing all kinds of metadata, keywords or map placements; sorting and editing RAW files; editing with layers and masks; up to creating print photo books or editing videoclips. All in the same environment, one single application!

We have some powerful screenshots coming up, where you can see by yourself how easy and simple the program is built. All the adjustment tools are on the right side, no need to go anywhere else in search of specific functions. Folders are on the left side. The Modules on the top.

A good organization of your pictures is vital when you have many of them. With Zoner Photo Studio X you can easily grab all the photos on your hard drives. There are no catalogs. You are not stuck in the program. You can freely move on your computer and drives as it works with the files and folders you have there.

Lost something? Misplaced it? You know it is somewhere, but where?! No problem. Use the universal search box tool and find anything within the application, from ratings, to keywords or even a physical location on the map feature.

This is my favorite part: you know, when you have a great picture or a beautiful selection and you want to transform them into something else, like a photo album or a simple collage? Usually, you have to export them and then import them into another program. Not here. Simply go to the create module and finish whatever it is, that you want to create with your work! How cool and efficient is this?

Yields20 Servings
Prep Time10 minsCook Time35 minsTotal Time45 mins

 225 g butter, room temperature
 150 g sugar
 20 g poppy seeds
 2 eggs
 210 g flour
 1 pinch salt
 3 g baking powder
 120 ml milk
2 drops Lemon Essential Oilonly use pure and certified oils, like doTERRA
 3 tbsp lemon juice
 2 tbsp confectioner's sugar

1

Preheat the oven at 180C. Spray your baking tin with baking spray or use melted butter to cover the borders.

2

In a large bowl, beat the sugar and the soft butter with a whisk at medium speed for 5 minutes. It should become fluffy and creamy.

3

Add the poppy seeds and combine them.

4

Add the eggs and beat well.

5

Now add the flour, baking powder, and salt a little at a time, alternating with the milk, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 drops of lemon essential oil (if you do not have one, add 1 tsp of lemon zest). Beat until just combined, do not overbeat.

6

Pour the batter in the oiled baking form and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool down 10 minutes before releasing the cake from the form.

7

Once it has cooled down completely on a wire rack, you can add the lemon glaze. To make it mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with about 3 tablespoons of confectioner's sugar. Add more sugar if it's too runny. Pour over the cake and let the glaze flow down the sides.
Enjoy!
